Pregnancy is a journey, also known as gestation, is the time during which one or more offspring develop inside a woman. First Pregnancy Journey is the most beautiful moment in a woman’s life. This is the moment where women feel very delighted and love to take care of herself as she is going to bring a new life in this world. A woman’s body undergoes many transformations during the nine months of pregnancy. Some of these physical changes are visible, such as an expanding belly and weight gain, while others are well known, such as the enlarged uterus, morning sickness, and backaches. Pregnancy also brings some emotional changes due to hormonal imbalance so she needs extra support from her husband and family during her nine months journey. These hormonal changes affect the mother and the growth of the baby in the womb.
Calculating your pregnancy in weeks, months and trimester can be very pretty confusing for some mother to be especially if it is their first pregnancy journey. Prenatal health care is the key to protecting the health of your child to get regular prenatal care. A pregnant mother has to follow routine check-ups throughout her pregnancy as this will help us to understand the proper growth of the baby inside the womb.

Pregnant mother has advised taking extra care of her diet as you are eating for two, this is not the time to cut calories or go on a diet, inspite of this you need about 300 extra calories a day, especially later in your pregnancy when your baby grows quickly. Healthy eating is always important, but especially when you are pregnant. So, make sure your calories come from nutritious foods that will contribute to your baby’s growth and development

* Low-fat dairy products
You will need more of the essential nutrients especially iron, calcium, folic acid than you did before you become pregnant. Your doctor also prescribes prenatal vitamins to be sure both you and your growing baby are getting enough.

* Low-fat dairy products including milk, pasteurized cheese, and yogurt
* Calcium fortified products including orange juice, soy milk, and cereals
* Dark green vegetables including spinach,kale, broccoli
* Dried beans
* Dark poultry
* Tofu ,enriched grains
* Dried beans and peas,iron-fortified breakfast cereals.
* Dark leafy green Vegetables
Folic acid is very essential throughout the first 3 months of pregnancy decrease the risk of neural tube defects.
Doctor prescribe 400 mg of folic acid supplement to pregnant mother in addition to the folic acid found in food.
A pregnant mother has to drink plenty of fluids especially water. A woman’s blood volume increases dramatically during pregnancy and drinking enough water each day can help prevent common problems such as dehydration and constipation.
Exercise during pregnancy has been shown to be very beneficial. Regular exercise can help:
*Prevent excess weight gain
* Reduce pregnancy-related problems, like backache, swelling, and constipation
* Increase energy
* Boost your mood
* Prepare your body for labor
* Less recovery time after the birth.
